K2 Adventures Foundation has launched The White Hat Project (WHP).

The WHP will build Tanzania’s first safe haven shelter for young girls who are victims of sexual violence.

This initiative is the next step in K2 Adventures Foundation’s successful Tanzanian philanthropic and community service program begun in 2009. Our decade of service will now be expanded to actively address the growing needs of an often over looked subset of Tanzania’s female population. We believe the WHP can be the beginnings of a cultural shift for victims of sexual violence in Tanzania.

To bring this initiative to reality we are teaming with St. Joseph’s Hospital in Moshi, one of our Tanzanian partners. St. Joseph’s has donated land within their secure compound to build a 40-bed respite facility. K2 Adventures Foundation has developed the architectural and operational plans and is now raising the $197,000 needed to build the structure and staff it for the first year of operation. Ground breaking is planned for early 2020 with completion by the end of the year.

The K2 White Hat House will be the first of its kind live-in home for pregnant girls 12-18 providing life-changing support with medical care (prenatal through post partum), psychosocial counseling, education and social work services. Our goal is to provide a safe, peaceful, caring environment where young sexual assault victims can recover during their pregnancy and prepare themselves and their child to successfully re-enter Tanzanian society.

We invite you to join us as a financial supporter or volunteer in this historic undertaking where we will not only change the lives of some of the worlds most vulnerable young girls, but also establish a support model that can be a standard for others to emulate.
